Continuing Medical Education
The goal of Continuing Medical Education is to link practitioners with needed resources; to promote an interdisciplinary approach to healthcare; and to provide a broad spectrum of educational opportunities designed by and for physicians and mid-level providers. We work to educate physicians enabling them to provide residents in our region with the highest quality of care. SEAHEC is accredited by the North Carolina Medical Society to designate programs for AMA PRA Category 1tm Credit.
Our coursework includes classes that meet the educational needs of dentists, dental specialists, hygienists, assistants, dental laboratory personnel and dental office managers.
Mental health education serves professions in the fields of mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse. Consultation and technical assistance services are also available to assist professionals in planning in-service programs and annual training calendars.
The Nursing Department provides continuing professional development for nurses in many areas of care and practice. We deliver high quality professional education that is recognized by the North Carolina Board of Nursing as well as many specialty organizations that require CEU hours for certification maintenance. Nursing also provides expertise in leadership, education, facilitation of the RN refresher program, and overall best practice guidelines in many of the nursing disciplines. The Director of Nursing also administers clinical site development grants, educational mobility support and oversees various grants and scholarships for professional nursing throughout the five county region.
Pharmacy continuing education is coordinated by faculty of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. They teach in the professional doctoral degree program of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy and hold faculty appointments with the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine.
